49 Squadron crew speculation for loss on the ground

Post by colinpateman » Tue Feb 20, 2018 5:49 pm

It appears that speculation exists as to the fate of four crew member to F/Sgt Kirtons crew of 49 Squadron who were lost over MANNHEIM 5/6 September 1943. 'Beware of the Dog at War' the plotted history book of 49 Sqd eludes to the fact that having parachuted to safety the four men fell to hostile action inflicted on the ground resulting in death. Clearly this thought must have emulated from somewhere, can anyone assist in any known route to investigate this further. I am aware of casualty packs being accessible in the archives and wonder if anyone has much experience of these.

Thank you for any assistance with this one.
