3040738 Sgt. James Staniforth (AG 149 Sqn)

Post by Sammy995544 » Wed May 08, 2019 2:49 pm

Hello,

I’m looking in to 3040738 Sergeant (Air Gunner) James Staniforth from Sheffield.

I have recently come across his medals for sale and as a preservist and collector of RAF Memorabilia I purchased them.

I’m after more details on him and possibly a photo if one exists of him, his aircraft or his crew!

Thank you very much, I hope I can contribute to this forum greatly!

Thank you, Sam!

Sgt J. Staniforth was the M/U gunner in the crew of F/Lt K.J. Hall. Came into the squadron too late in the war for any bombing operations, but flew 3 Exodus flights to Juvincourt to collect pows on 12th, 16th and 23rd May 45.

Crew.......
F/Lt K.J. Hall, Pilot.
Sgt W. Rawlinson, F/E.
F/Sgt N Taverner, Nav.
F/Sgt C. Copestake, A/B.
Sgt R. Green, W/Op.
Sgt J. Staniforth, M/U.
Sgt A. Young, R/G.
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.
