Hello all,
This is my first post on this great forum.
I have a question about drop zone names.
I have 75 (NZ) squadron on Special Opeations in March 1944, flying Stirlings and they are dropping Containers in places like Trainer 124,
Author 18 and Newsagent 5.
Can someone tell me where these drop zones may have been?
Thanks,
Wayne.

Hello,
To start Trainer 124 should be West of Clermont Ferrand in Puy-de-Dôme Department, France.
I expect to find more!
Best regards.
Bruno

Good evening Bruno and Wayne,
On the premise that at least some of the names of these Special Operations DZs referred to the SOE circuits being supplied,I have found two possible circuits that may be concerned.Firstly 'Newsagent' was an SOE circuit operating around and/or in Lyons.Secondly 'Author',renamed 'Digger' in late March 1944 and an offshoot of the earlier 'Scientist' circuit was based in the Correze region.Sorry I can't be more specific on locations,
Regards,Mark.

Re: Special operation Drop Zone names
Hi Bruno and Mark,
Thanks for the help regarding these drop zones.
It's a subject I would like to find out more about.
I'm guessing the containers dropped were full of weapons and explosives?
Would there be anything else dropped, like food for instance?
Regards,
Wayne.
