Just a heads up for UK based forumites that this Sunday (October 23rd) BBC2 (8.00pm) are showing a documentary on Operation Jericho. Here's the blurb from the Radio Times:
"Martin Shaw tells the story of Operation Jericho, a 1944 mission which saw a squadron of RAF Mosquito bombers try to free French Resistance fighters from a prison in Amiens by destroying its walls. He takes to the air to retrace the British pilots' journey and meets survivors and aircrew as he tries to piece together who originally ordered the raid."

Re: Operation Jericho
Red Kite have just published a superb book on this, telling the story of how it was a cover up related to D Day and how much of what happened was a myth. A related documentary was on 'Yesterday' about a week ago under the 'Great Escapes of WW2' banner.
The BBC crew who made this asked RK if they could use the manuscript as the basis of the programme!

Re: Operation Jericho
Having just watched the program, i just wonder why!! after all these years, no-one seems to know the truth behind this particular raid. But whatever, you cannot take away anything from the heroic efforts made by the crews that took part.
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.
