A Lancaster colour question

Post by justonemorebrick »

Greetings All,

I specialise in building scale model aircraft in Lego :) I have done a number of models including a Spitfire and Messerschmitt, and now embarking on a Lancaster!

One of my limitations is getting the right Lego part in the right colour and I was interested to know if there were any Lancasters that were known to be all black? This colour gives me the best flexibility in parts and although I am working on brick building the camo pattern on the top, I am having trouble sourcing the right colours.

My current reference model is all black and if it is representative of any real Lancaster used by Bomber Command then ill keep it and build a second with the camo on top.

Any help appreciated!

Some of my models if interested:

Some Lancaater teaser pics will be up soon.

Good morning David and welcome to the Forum.

To the best of my knowledge, Lancasters were always in Dark Earth/Green camouflage over Black (Night) in Bomber Command save for those used on daylight raids with Grand Slam/Tallboy bombs. There are plenty of Lanc profiles on the web, a good starting point is a site called Wings Pallete which gives some good side profiles.

Best of luck

Hello David and welcome to the forum,

As John L. has stated, the colours are as such ..................... couldn't entice you to build a Short Stirling, could we?
Sure beats 'the everyday run of the mill stuff' !!!!!
Cheers,

Thanks for the replies and looks like i'll keep working on a camo pattern. As for doing a Stirling ill let you decide on whether I'm worthy of such once I get some pics of my Lanc up ;)

Preliminary build of the Lancaster completed at the link below... You'll be happy to know that one of my fellow club members has also requested a Short Stirling!

I'll need a LOT more bricks to do the Stirling but it does look a facinating build...comments welcome :)

David

...and yes all 100% Lego.

My next one might be a Wellington, so still practising for that Short Stirling!
