Looking good, Mike ................ I remember using tweezers to hold the decals when wet, carefully lifting them up out of the saucer with water and laying them down on the subject........... ohhh, my hands are shaking just thinking about it!
Cheers,
John

Decaling is now complete and once dry all be sealed in with a coat of Klear.
Now it's starting to look like a Lanc.
Thanks to all for your very kind comments
Till the next

In this update the initial weathering and sealing coat of flat varnish has been applied. Work has begun on the bomb load and that is awaiting the weathering and flat finish.

All being well the masking will come off next and then work can begin on final details and retouching.

Looking good Mike. I'm half way through making a Valom Albemarle and it's fighting me all the way LOL. If it looks half as good as yours I'll be very pleased

Hi John
A Valom Albemarle, sounds like a real challenge. Any chance of some pics.

A challenge it certainly is!

She's a work in progress and nowhere near your standards but I'll take a pic tonight and upload it tomorrow.

Mike,

Have been watching this build with great interest.

Just noticed the G-H rudder markings on a Mk.II, the two horizontal yellow bars were not used until late October 1944 onwards by that time the Mk.II was not used by No.514 or No.3 Group!

Hi Steve
Thanks for the info. I'm intrigued as the markings have come from the Xtradecal sheet X72176 which states that LL670 was with 514 squadron in July 1944 at Waterbeach. Prompted by your remarks I've checked LL670 in the Lancaster book by Bruce Robertson and it shows this aircraft was wrecked in an accident in January 1943 whilst with 1668CU. Clearly it being in service in 1944 let alone bearing GH bars is thrown into doubt. Can you give any more details on this aircraft? It's not too late to remove the GH bars. I think Xtradecal have got LL670 mixed up with a Mk. BIII which would be a better candidate for GH ?
I also note that 514 squadron formed at Foulsham in September 1943 but this postdates the accident in January of that year! I think these markings need a re think!!
Thanks for your valuable input.

Mike
