Stirling Bomber MKI Engineers Panel

Post by jamesinnewcastle »

Hi

Almost completed, the Engineers panel - surprisingly colourful, many of these controls were replaced in later Marks.

Added the flare gun too!

The lower right panel was also dropped completely, possibly it was only required for certain engine types - could be a way of dating/identifying the aircraft?

As usual don't worry about the colours or textures - they are a complete learning process on their own. I need to get the structure done first.

Various additions - mainspar and sheeting - oxygen bottles - SBA and radio components, D/R pod reshaped, trap doors to Bomb aimer and front gun, trailing aerial winch and fairlead and other stuff...

A view onto the starboard side this time. One pic is later than the other, sometimes items have been switched off for clarity,

A couple more that were done recently. Next images will be for the Reconnaissance and Emergency Landing Flares.

Anyone know what an Emergency Landing Flare actually is? How would you use it, who would see it? What colour? It would have to be a parachute flare or it might get hidden from people on the ground by trees surely??

Come to that what reconnaissance was done by the light of a Flare?

Quite incredible - the last shot, looking down through the astrodome, really brings it to life!
