I see in my absence the old Norfolk geezer's taken the opportunity to post defamatory comments about me, in true style! :(

My whole take on making models is one of technical accuracy as far as possible, but not to the extent where it can detract from the overall look, the character, of the aircraft. Stirling Project's comments about pre-shading are very welcome: it looks right when done with great subtlety in the right areas but few have the skills or knowledge of their subject matter to accomplish this. Me - I'm a post-shader mainly because I feel I have greater control and it's easier to correct if I make a cock-up..........not that I ever do of course! ;)

I say, that is frightfully rude old boy!! But so nice to see you have sobered up enough to join us pro temps.

But we are ad idem vis à vis the shading issue. The fact of the matter is that some modellers ignore the invariable case that slipstream will push "staining" to the rear of the airframe and consequently "shading" emulating soiling" should only extend in that direction. And yes I agree that post finish shading with pastels etc. is most likely to produce the most realistic effect.

Adieu mon ami - but not too long, huh?? There are some who (God knows why) find your presence here stimulating. So do lay off the sauce? Well, certainly until I can find an excuse to join you.

Just to let you know that Air Modeller magazine issue 29 carries an article on this Stirling model, and it's in English with some more stunning photos of the interior. Seems a shame to stick the 2 halves together and hide the detail! Back issues of the magazine can be ordered from http://shop.afvmodeller.com/customer/home.php (post free worldwide John) or you can just download pdf's of the articles you are interested in @ £1 each

Don't you just love it when the 'mod crew' get 'argy bargy' with each other ..................... Just the reason why I paired them up as the 'bookends' to this fine establishment.
It is never dull in these woods, with two such sharpshooters!

Now over to some serious matters .............. Dave, many thanks to your informative post, I will follow this up.

Dave, so glad you re-posted this one. It really is a marvel to look at and yes, you are right about it being a shame to close it up ............... just as well we can see the pics of the build.
Cheers,
John

Ah, a MKI, did he include the second largest glazed panel on the Stirling? The one in the belly trap door at the back next to the Elsan?

Probably not - it always gets overlooked!
