Revell Halifax

Post by Dave_Richardson »

Just a heads up that there's a new version of the Halifax due out from Revell before Christmas. I understand that this is a new tooling not just a re box of an older kit.

Hi Dave, thanks for the heads up. Is it a 1:48 scale or 1:72?
We haven't given much time to the Halifax and it would be good, being that we cover the whole spectrum of Bomber Command, that we have some more posts about this aircraft.

Looks tempting, but then I've got two Halybags on my wall already.... may be time to build an extension!!!

Hi Guys,

Dave, weren't you going to build a model of some sought ............ or is it just my memory going pear shape again?

Hi John,

You're right I have an Airfix Stirling sat waiting to be started. Unfortunately things have conspired against me. Back in February we had a flood at home which affected almost every room. After battles with the insurance company we are finally moving back tomorrow!

Hopefully I'll be making a start on it in the new year.

Good to hear your moving back in, should be a nice early Xmas present for you.

Well, Guy has got the jump on both of us with his start on his model but we'll get there.
Hopefully, some other members will also kick in and start a model.

Footnote to all modellers - The quality of the build is not the main focus, it is the dedication of the effort you put in, based on the memories of our loved ones who flew in these aircraft ........... so please, don't be bashful in making a start, I know the members here will give you all the encouragement.
Cheers,
John

I think it appropriate to point out that the new halifax kit is riddled with a number of inaccuracies - many are very obvious and detract from the appearance as a rendering of such a fine aircraft. It is a great pity =many people had high expectations.

Can I suggest a visit to this site

There is another topic too that will be of interest.

Hi David and good to hear from you. Thanks for the advice on the link.
Could you or anyone else recommend the 'best' 1:48 scale Halifax model brand ?????
As tough as the Sanger Stirling was, I can't help it ......... I've got the bug!
Must do a Hali.
Cheers,

I think there is the FM kit but it is not very nice. I have the Sanger kit for the Halifax but have not touched it for years. Hence my recollections are a bit vague. However it is much better than the Stirling kit. You are to be congratulated on what you have done with that, frankly, and so I think it very fair to say that the Sanger Halifax kit for you would be a piece of cake.

I think I have put these up before but they may help:-
