Well, what a great build so far John.
You certainly have been inventive with solutions to the problems you encountered.
I'm mighty impressed, can't wait to see the next set of photos.

Awesome mate,

Wayne.

Thanks Guy and Wayne, I do actually use glue around the edges of all joints but then use the silicone in the middle and back from the edges. I remember building the 1:48 scale Lancaster and felt that it could do with some extra support locking sections together. I wish that I had done this then.
Cheers,
John

Wow, what a monster!! That's a real labour of love!! Very impressed with your approach John - I think I'd have got as far as your first photo then transferred the whole undertaking to the bin. Good luck, will watch this develop with interest.

Hi John,
Nice to see the excellent progress that you are making.
Just in case you have not yet come across these I attach the following link that may be of interest.

I am using these in my 72nd scale conversion because I hate Airfix's effort!

Thanks Guy. I am finding that I have a number of 'parts' missing from the kit but the engines are here. Yesterday, I had all four cowling's lined up .......... one as shown above, one with a disc on top of it to ready to mark out, the next, with holes drilled into it and the last one completed, with a perfect hole, ready for the engine.

Trouble was, I took the photos but had forgot to take the 'memory stick' out of the computer and back into the camera !!!! I so was clicking away to no avail !!!! I'm a bit dirty on myself because I had gone to so much effort to capture it all ................ oh well.
Cheers,
John

Hi John.

Looking good there mate. I can't wait to see the Lanc and Stirling photographed together.
I think it'll be a great photo.

What about making the rear turret fully rotated to port, and the gunner falling out :o (doing a Dennis  )

Wayne, the turrets on this kit are just clear plastic with no bases etc. ............. so unfortunately I cannot turn them to port, so to speak but I will try to conjure up something regarding our mate, Dennis.
ALSO
I wanted to ask if or how many, (ie : a lot or a few ) Stirlings were made without a mid upper turret. The reason I'm asking is that the collar for my 'build' looks completely wrong and I have now removed it .................. so I thought it would pay to ask the question.
Thanks,
John

John

The early Mk1 series 1 aircraft seem to have been built without a mid upper turret but they may have had an under belly retractable turret. The later MkIV's also didn't have mid upper turrets but they also didn't have front turrets!
