Can't beat Daves answer.
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Dammit, been waiting all these years for this one to come up! The lake's an instant giveaway. I lived an hour north of Hanover for 5 years, had some happy times at a pub just next to the Cathedral (preserved as a memorial) - used to be a jazz group or string quartet playing on Saturday nights and Sunday lunches and the food was excellent. 2 o'clock one Sunday morning the band started playing all the old marching songs and before you know it, hordes of otherwise respectable wealthy German pub-goers are up on the tables roaring out the words

Well Done, Dave, correct on all accounts.
Alan, there's always the next one, which won't be too far away!
Richard, thanks for the onsite commentary, most enjoyable!
