Operational Challenge 101

Post by PAFG »

...or Room 101 depending on your enjoyment of these puzzles!

Here's a fairly popular target, this operation was a relatively small one but had a big impact... date and who was involved please!

Remember, these are rarely as flipping simple as they should be ;)

Enjoy :D

Cheers,
Richard

Richard,

I've been looking throughout a selection of countries but don't really have the foggiest.
OK, it's not the bridge of river Kwai but in order to extract a decent clue, are you open to a bride?

Now if i was a Yank, i'd say, this is what i have with my eggs in the morning. But as i'm not, i'd say "bacon" So the target is.. bacon... ooops "Hamm" :D i'll try 5th Dec 44.
John, i'm sure you meant "bribe" in your post to Richard, at least i hope you did

Absolutely right on both counts, Alan, that's an AP photograph and a card from the AOC - Hamm 'n' exx it is, on 5th December 1944:
94 Lancasters of 3 Group carried out a G-H raid through cloud. No aircraft lost. The British Bombing Survey Unit estimate that 140 acres, 39 percent of Hamm's built up area, were destroyed by this attack.
Cheers,

Richard
