OK came to this one a bit late looking at the previous posts.

Took a bit of digging had to be a twin or a single engine mounted above the cockpit as the air intake and exhaust are on the top of the cowling.

Think I have got there in the end

Is it a Fairchild 91 Baby Clipper?

Well done to Cliff for getting this one. It is indeed a Fairchild 91. Only four were built, and the one pictured was the only one to see service, with the RAF in Egypt.
