OK people,
Tonight you are on operations.
Clue - You'll be flying with a number of mosquitoes flying over Europe.
Your target for tonight is in Germany.
You need to get your navigator to study the snow covered country side and try and identify the landscape.
One you have done that, you need to identify the target and what date Bomber Command flew to this target, with the said aircraft.
The Bomber Command War Diaries: An Operational Reference Book, 1939-45 by Martin Middlebrook (Author), Chris Everitt (Author) are an ideal reference tool.
Google Earth is your friend to zoom down and identify cities and river systems etc.
More clues will be posted if required.
Can you name the target and date of this operation?

Go on then - I'll go for Wurzburg on 3/4 March 1945 when 32 Mossies attacked. There were a couple of smaller attacks in early Feb and then 5 Group destroyed the place on 16/17th March (1 Group had a tough time on Nuremburg on the same night).

Dammit !! missed this one, but definitely Wurzburg
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

That's just not fair Richard! John takes all that time to research, prepare and type up the challenge then you go and get it just like that. Where's your sense of sportsmanship.....just cos the Aussies don't have any, we don't have to stoop to their level.

Bang on Richard,
Wurzburg it is, on 3/4 March 1945 when 32 Mossies attacked.
Looks like you played a straight bat on this one, unlike the stray comments emanating from some cricketing professors.
Could it be that we finally won a game, even though our team are mere school lads at best ...............
Here are the final details. Looks like the snow cover didn't do it's job!
Cheers,
John
