Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Morning chaps
Just to let you know that I've emailed the web host again to see if he can resolve the issue.
In the meantime so that Guy doesn't have too many withdrawal issues , here's the latest news from the site:
"As previously related, we’ve just moved into a new workshop. There’s much to do to get everything up to speed, not least of which plumbing our new compressor into the buildings ring main. This equipment is much larger than our old one and consequently makes a lot more noise. so we’ve had to erect a small lean-to building in which to house it. All important work but it detracts from progressing the cockpit. nearly there though and normal service should soon be resumed!"
cheers
John

No photos,(yet) but the workshop is very nearly there. We're waiting to get the 200 ltr compressor plumbed in but in the meantime, Old faithful (the 50 ltr one) will stand in
We now know where everything is and should start on work proper next weekend

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
The glider release has been refurbished by disassembling and de-corroding the metal. The parts were then primed and wet assembled before being rivetted back together and painting black. A new cruciform spring washer has been made for the pivot point to ensure that the handle remains at a constant tension during rotation

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Hi all
A slightly frustrating week as I had a reverse 'Eureka' moment on Friday and have come to the conclusion that we have made one of the beams that keep the seat rails apart completely wrong on the 1st Pilots side. Whilst not insurmountable it's a real pain as it means we now have to make a new beam although we should be able to re-use all of the support brackets etc.
This problem was only deduced by looking at a photo relating to a different part, coupled with a drawing from the Mk III modification Manual; neither of which were available when we made the original. Ho hum!
