I think from memory this was a staged PR stunt by the Germans using a captured Spitfire. Not my area of interest but again from memory there are a few other photo's showing it with smoke pouring from its engine, all set up of course.

Steve certainly makes an interesting call on this photo. What do you gents make of the 'black' patch ( centre of image ) on the wing. Could it be previous damage?
