Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Here is a picture of our proposed Bomb bay jig. I have had to crop it to get it uploaded but the idea is there.
We are now actively trying to get some funding for this to be commisioned which will speed things up and get us to grips with the actual structure.
Please if you feel you would like to contribute to our fund go to the website and follow the steps provided.
We are very grateful for any donations however small. Kev

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Keep up the great work John.
Would the members of the forum be asking too much if we nominated the 1st of October 2016 for our maiden flight?
I can arrange a raffle to raise funds for take off fuel but you may have to land on fumes.
There's a bit of give or take on the date, l trust a week either way of course, don't want to pressure you in any way.
Happy New Year mate.
Cheers,
John ( Kitty )

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Hi all
We've recently acquired an original pair of rudder pedals and arms, which we have now refurbished and mounted on our new build pedestal. These are for the P2 side and work as advertised. The P1 assembly shouldn't be far behind

Re: The Stirling Aircraft Project Update
Hi all
A bumper update today in time for Christmas.
We've had a busy year and the flightdeck is now coming along well. All of the flying controls are now linked and we've just mounted the instrument panel in front of the control columns so that it is all in context now. As you may know we've finally taken the decision to terminate the fuselage at Fr16 rather than Fr26 as originally intended. The fragility of our tenancy at our current location and the logistics of having to move such a long and heavy structure finally tipped the balance. Nonetheless this will still encapsulate all of the main crew positions up to and including the front spar.
The throttle box is nearing completion with the installation of the brake handle and as you'll see from the photo it is very yellow! Also close to completion is the engine starter panel and its important instruction label, the text of which until recently eluded us but thanks to Fenland museum who discovered a damaged example and to Screens and Graphics of Cottenham, Cambs who reproduced it free of charge, this is now installed and looks very impressive.
We hope that 2017 is a good year for you all
best wishes
