Sergeant Gerry Blacklock (later Group Captain) Pilot of the first Stirling delivered to Bomber Command


Dear Members,

I have tried to ensure that members who knew Gerry Blacklock personally have been informed of the sad news by telephone and hope we have not missed anyone.
I am forwarding the following message from Jim Blacklock, Gerry’s son.
"Thank you for your condolences for the passing of our father,
Group Captain Gerry G.B. Blacklock OBE, DFC, DFM
on the morning of Thursday 28th April
at the age of 96.
The funeral will take place at 1.00pm on Thursday 12th May
at The Forest of Dean Crematorium,
Yew Tree Brake, Speech House Road,
Nr Cinderford, Gloucestershire GL14 3HU.
Afterwards you are invited for refreshments and a chance to talk about Dad
at The Speech House Hotel
Coleford,Gloucestershire,GL16 7EL

Flowers will be from the immediate family
plus wreaths from father's various RAF Associations.
If you would like to make a donation in memory of father
then he requested them to be either forThe Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund

The Committee proposes to send a wreath, similar to that sent to Frank Clear’s funeral, on behalf of the Stirling Aircraft Society and a donation to The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund.

An obituary will appear in the Telegraph [date unknown] and an article on Gerry Blacklock in the next edition of the Stirling Times.
