Fantastic Stirling Model

Post by Bruno »

Hello,

Neil has let us a wonderful message in the Website's Guest Book:
A fantastic tribute to the Stirling and the people who served with it. How fantastic would it be to see a full aircraft on display next to R5868 at Hendon :V)

The web link is my little contribution to keeping the Stirling memories alive,

Neil
Here is the link to the fanstastic work (which is far from a little contribution as you'll see) made by Neil:

In Neil's page there's also a link to an italian Website where you'll also see some incredible photos of a Stirling Model:

I've invited Neil to join us to speak more about his work.
I expect he'll join us.
Enjoy!
Regards.

Thanks for your kind comments Bruno.

I feel a bit embarrased as there are a few mistakes with the build that probably stand out like sore thumbs to you guys

Here's the last one I did, combination of the new Revell kit and old Matchbox wings...

Cheers

Yes Bruno, Neil has built a beautiful example of the Stirling. ( certainly makes my work look inferior, ha! ) but seriously, a very good job there , Neil. Well done and welcome to our friendly forum.
As you have no doubt seen, we have a 'Modelling' section ............ Max and David, along with other members have some lovely examples on display.
Cheers,
John

Thanks guys.

One of the main interests around modelling is the research that it leads to, hence my coming here. It's such a shame there is very little left to keep the memories of such aircraft and their crews alive, all the more justification for the great effort here by you guys :)

Some great models guys. I'm currently reading Stirling Wings by Jonathon Falconer, fantastic read.

Cheers

I'm glad to see you're enjoying Jonathan's excellent book Woody: he's a friend of Richard (PAFG) and me - we have regular "meets" over a pint and chat about Bomber Command and related matters, work/research in hand etc.. The next time we get together, scheduled for mid June, I'll draw his attention to your Stirling and Halifax models, he's sure to be interested!

Thanks.

It's such a small world. Really enjoyed his book. I'm not a fan of reading purely technical material, more the stories of those that flew / worked on the aircraft and this book ticks those boxes well.

The Stirling and Halifax amongst others will be at the Birmingham show this month with the Bomber Command Sig.

Cheers
