Bill Foxley

Bill Foxley, who has died aged 87, was considered the most badly burned airman to survive the Second World War after returning to his crashed Wellington to try and rescue a crew member; his example and support became an inspiration to later generations who suffered similar severe disabilities. He also appeared as a burnt Hurrican pilot in the film The Battle of Britain:
