Hi all,
Just a little teaser to let you know that i have something that i think is really special, which has been sent to me by Michael Wooldridge, in return for some help with some information on a 15sqdn airman, and is a "log" kept by the airman in question, Sgt J.J. Sparropw, whilst a pow. No more for now, as there are approx 45 files to download, but watch this space

There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.
Re: Something special
Well here it is, and a very special thank you to Michael, who gave permission for this fantastic bit of work to be put here on the forum. Hope you enjoy it as much as i have. It includes names and addresses of fellow pow's at the time.
Written by Sgt J.J. Sparrow, whilst a pow. He was on board 15sqdn Stirling BF460, LS-F, which was lost to a night-fighter whilst on ops to Nuremburg on the night of 10/11th Sug 43. Four of the crew died, and lie in Florennes Communal Cemetery.

Re: Something special
Great work, Alan. It is these special instances that help make researching all the worth while. Must say that I'm very impressed with the Short Stirling drawing.

Re: Something special
Have just spent some more time going over this logbook again. The poems, the letters and the drawings really are remarkable.
There is nothing quite like reading through a logbook to give the reader a 'fly on the wall' description.

What a fantastic piece of history. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, rather than leaving it locked away in a drawer. The poetry and illustrations are wonderful and I love the extracts from sweethearts letters received!

Amazing stuff Alan, a real treasure trove. Thanks for posting.
