Wing Scale have just released details of a 1/32nd scale B-17, hot on the heels of their B-25. I wonder if they have plans for a Stirling, Lanc or Hallibag?

Can you imagine what a 1/32nd scale Stirling would be like: fabulous to look at, but where would you keep it!

Last year, the Secretary received a letter from a friend, Brian Sparks, of Norfolk, mentioning a very large model of the Stirling, built by a fellow Norfolk resident Tony Nelson. The Chairman telephoned Tony and subsequently received a very detailed letter and photographs, not only of the Stirling, but of no fewer than twenty other fine flying models. The Stirling is built to 1/6th scale with a wing span of 16ft 6in and a length of 14ft 6in. It is a replica of a Mk. III LJ525 EX-R of 199 sqdn. RAF, North Creake, Norfolk, 1944. The adjacent pictures convey some idea of the sheer scale of the Stirling, and of the vast scope of Norfolk's Model Air Force, which was started in 1972, and to date has consumed in excess of 21000 man-hours.

Unfortunately these photos were taken in 2005 & 2006 (for the first photo) and I don't have more since.

Holy mackeral. And in Norfolk. Eat your heart out Max!!!!

I cannot believe that they are in Norfolk - any one of those in the air would have made the sky quite dark and I would have noticed. I will see if I can find out more.

Can't say I know much about Wingscale but at about a hundred Euros they do not seem expensive.

Although not in our era Wingnut models do a superb WW1 Gotha in 1:32 scale - a masterly kit!

Well that's just ridiculous, how does it expect to take off with those "wheels"....I'm not aware of a Stirling floatplane, though nothing would surprise me since the Lancaster specification called for the ability for a catapult-assisted take off!
