Thank you - those kind of photographs say s much more than the "posed" ones for the press. I wonder if those chaps had any rounds in the magazines??
In a letter written by my Uncle, whilst he was awaiting his posting, I think to OTU at Kinloss, he mentions being told to patrol Felixtowe with a .303 Lee Enfield and five rounds which he had to keep in his pocket, rather than in the rifle. e comments "How was I supposed to stop any invading Germans with that??"
