Wellington Bomber LN 514
I was watching a documentary the other night about a Wellington Bomber built in Broughton -Wales , this aircraft was filmed whilst being made The aircraft was built in 30 hrs , whilst it was very interesting No-one said If the Aircraft lasted very long on Air operations . Im sorry to ask ,this being a Stirling / Lancaster Forum . But I know there must be information somewhere regarding this Wellington . Riskey

It went to No. 19 OTU at Kinloss (and possibly later No. 20 OTU at Lossiemouth) and was finally scrapped in 1948, ironically probably at the Maintenance Unit on the other side of Hawarden airfield from where she was built, so she never saw "active" service as in bombing operations.

Hi mate, feel free to talk about all RAF Bomber Command and Luftwaffe aircraft here on this forum. We cover all the aircraft, reason being, when someone (new or current member) has an inquiry, we can offer full assistance and not just give part of the answer.Im sorry to ask ,this being a Stirling / Lancaster Forum .

John

Hi John , Many thanks Gentlemen , I was sad to see LN 514 never made it into active service . It was a shame it was scrapped , it would have made a great museum piece , but I suppose all they wanted to do was forget the War . and rebuild a peacefull life . Riskey

...... and later built Land-Rovers , which is why Landys were built of Alley ,there was more of it at the end of the War . Land-Rovers First vehicle was built in 1948 Thought Id add that bit Riskey
Re: Wellington Bomber LN 514
Hi Riskey, I wonder if those alloy built landrovers had a tendency to drift to port or stbd.

Hi Riskey
The reason the Landy,s went left to right was because they didn't have rear gunners leaning out of the back to kick the wheels into touch!!! Mentioning no names of course!!!
