Re: OTU Questions
I think NFT is Night Flying Test: this was usually conducted during the daytime prior to a night operation. Its purpose was for all the crew to test their respective items of equipment to obviate any difficulties, recalls etc on the actual op. Some COs such as Kingsford Smith insisted on them, others appear to be rather more relaxed.
Having just given this some thought in the context of the question, i.e. at OTU rather than on the squadron NFT may not be as I understand its usual meaning, though as a matter of the routines being taught at OTU it may still be applicable!

Hi Kerry,
DCO will be Duty Carried Out whereas DNCO will be Duty Not Carried Out.
I will go with NFT being a Night Flying Test as previously mentioned as this is the way it occurs in my Fathers log book.
