Aircraft Identification Challenge 219

Post by K4KittyCrew »

I've been away ( working ) now for 3 weeks and only back on weekends but thought I'd post a overdue 'challenge' for you all.
This is a very interesting type of aircraft ...................... Can you name it and can you identify the 'cylinder shape items' mounted around the aircraft?
I'll post the answer at the end of the week ( 8th June 2014 )

Sorry about the poor quality image!
Good luck!
John

Ok folks, just wanted to ask if anyone has known of such an aircraft and of course, any further thoughts on the actual name of the aircraft and maker.

Looking at it closely I would say that it is a fake. It looks like a model someone has made as a fictional aircraft. It appears to be standing on a peg. The tube coming from the left of the canopy appears solid therefore not a gun of some sort. For a streamlined aircraft those cylinders don't fit. They look like car generators stuck on the outside. Either that or it's getting ready for a night out and has its hair in rollers.

I would say it's definitely a model/miniature, probably not more than a few inches long, photographed too close for the camera used to be able to focus. Possibly some kind of novelty item ? Like a cigarette lighter or somesuch.

I've been through Alfred Price's "Last Year of the Luftwaffe, May 1944 to May 1945" which includes two chapters, The White Hopes 1 and 2 which deals with the "wonder weapons" designed to turn the tide of the the war, but nothing like this is included in it......but then if it was as experimental as this looks, perhaps it wouldn't be!
