Good post here Steve, we would love to claim him as one of ours ( Aussie ) but in truth, we value him as one of our Kiwi friends. Sadly, from the many you have posted of late, we seem to be losing these great men at a rate of knots.

John,

When I was doing my apprenticeship a long time ago, my manager was ex FAA and was a W.Op flying the Fairey Barracuda before conversion to the Avenger and service with the British Pacific Fleet, he bloody hated the Barracuda with a passion. He was pre-war Navy and also flew the Skua on the Ark Royal ( which at every opportunity he brought into the conversation ) which he insisted was the best aircraft he ever operated in. !! :o

A very brave man, sadly passed on in 1984.
