Re: RAF Woburn Park
Hi Have a look at a Google Map view of Woburn. You'll spot the runway soon enough. Interestingly there are huge trees along each side of it and it crosses a public road. I understand the road had to be closed when the Stirlings arrived. The trees are not that far apart and it must have been quite tr...

Re: Airfix Stirling Inspirational Build
Ah, a MKI, did he include the second largest glazed panel on the Stirling? The one in the belly trap door at the back next to the Elsan?
Probably not - it always gets overlooked!

Re: WW2 Stirling
Hi
You might get better results by looking at texts relating to the development of radar during the period. The loss of a scientist being more unusual than the loss of an aircraft at that time.

Re: PMs won't send
Hi Bruno
There is a PM to admin stuck in my 'outbox' since Sept 22. If your theory is correct when you read it, it will disappear from my inbox. Let me know when you read it.
Cheers

Re: PMs won't send
HI Bruno
I replied to your PM which I received OK.
I get PMs but randomly they don't send. I received one recently and replied to it OK and recived a response, but my last reply is stuck!
(Incidentally another of my replies has been stuck for about a year now!)
Cheers

Re: technical data
Hi
The official documentation states 1,322 sq ft for both the MkI and the MKIII main planes, it would have been a massive undertaking to have changed it given the war footing. You must choose who is likely to be correct.

Re: Sgt. Sydney Thomas Woodbridge 83 Sqd. KIA 29 March 1942
Hi Steve 'Gardening' was the code given to the task of mining enemy waters (at night). To garden you 'planted' (dropped) mines which were the 'veg(tables)'. I vaugely remember that different mines had different vegtable names (I could be wrong there!). This sounds easy but the crews had to fly very ...

Re: Sgt. Sydney Thomas Woodbridge 83 Sqd. KIA 29 March 1942
Hi You could download the Operational Record Books for his missions. Go to the national archives web site and search for ORB and the squadrons of interest. I believe that they have digitised most of them. Cost a few pounds for each download. You still see his name on the records. If you are lucky he...
