Re: New Stirling book
James, I paid £27 plus P&P which I think is a very fair price for the book, which I am currently reading in my study and enjoying immensely. The dust jacket price of £50 is frankly absurd, I have a number of Fonthill books, all very good and sensibly priced. I would suggest any potential buyer s...

Re: New Stirling book
I have to agree, a good book with lots of "new" photographs and a credit to Pino for his dedication. However, I am sure Pino was not the individual who priced the book at £50, I cannot see many being sold at that price. The book is priced out of most peoples pocket range, I really cannot s...

Re: Diversion Raids during the Berlin Campiagn
Hi Richard, I was hoping you would reply. I have been using the NNR and interesting reading to, my interest stems from a 3 Group communique where the group was required to step up its mining effort in the Kiel Bay, Denmark region in support of the main attacks on Berlin. These mine laying efforts be...

Diversion Raids during the Berlin Campiagn
Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone has researched the success or otherwise of the diversionary operations flown in support of the Berlin campaign 1943/44. Particularly the operations flown by the Stirling's and early mark Halifax, in the mine-laying and secondary target role?
Regards
Steve

V1 Ski Sites and codes
Gents,
I am having some problems correctly identifying a number of V1 Ski sites to the code names used within the 3 Group ORB, example
BLACKCAP - BLACKBIRD D - ROBIN - IRIS
I am hoping someone on the forum may hold the key to the codes!!
Any help appreciated.
Regards

Re: loss of Stirling HA-U from 218. Sqd , 25.6.1943
No luck sadly, but... I am trying to contact the relatives of the flight commanders who were lost from Downham Market for a unveiling of a 100ft memorial wall in honour of all those who failed to return from this former aerodrome. I have managed to contact four so far, and the grandson of one of the...

Help in finding family in Somerset
Hi all, I am trying to locate the family of a former 218 Squadron flight commander, S/Ldr Ernest Frank Sly DFC AFM, he was born in Quaperlake Street, Bruton, Somerset in 1916. I have tried a few papers in the area, will no luck. Any of you chaps who live in the west country know of a "friendly&...
