Here are a few more images of both mid upper and rear gunners, along with some other interesting photos.
Cheers,
John

The 207sqdn Lanc was a result of a collision on the bombing run up to Amiens. The lucky R/G was Sgt K.A. Boyce, and although his crew went out on the next night, he did'nt , and i don't blame him :) Anyone know the story behind the 434sqdn Lanc ?
Just located it, NG497, WL-P, struck by fire from JU88, Dortmund 21st Feb 45. the W/Op, P/O H. Davey RCAF was killed in the attack, and the M/Upper A/G, F/Sgt J. Taggart RCAF, was seriously injured.
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

I was just searching through some more details on rear gunners and found this comment.
I knew a lot of rear gunners were killed but l was shocked to see that apparent total.

During World War II 20,000 air gunners were killed while serving with Bomber Command.
