Hello,

I've begun to search in Administration Control Panel and I found the possibility to download the database but as I'm at work I can't tell now how to use it.
Regards.

Thank you Bruno, that's very interesting. I've asked the question of Larry, he has replied that the Forum is still intact and "sleeping" but could be resurrected fairly easily if someone was prepared to run it but sorting out Dennis' posts from over 30000 posts was difficult.

Thanks for the updates re LAF, chaps. If Bruno can find a way of downloading the posts, I'm sure there must be techies around who could sort out the different posts, Thwre was a lot of good material there, including Dennis's posts of course. I remember being quite chuffed that I had just reached a new rank (was it for 175 posts?) just before Larry pulled the plug. And then of course they all vanished! I should have been more assiduous in keeping a copy of my own posts but of course, apart from a very few drafts of longish pieces, I don't have them.

No it's not. You can search by author.

I was in the process of doing exactly that, and copying the text from Dennis' posts (with his permission) when the forum disappeared. Ended up with maybe 80 of them.

Agreed Adam, I just don't think Larry has the interest or the motivation to do anything about it at all.

Gentlemen,
I may have found a way to access the LAF records.
I've used this site numerous times before to access RAF War Diaries.
Sometimes it works ( very well ) ........ sometimes you can't access.

I've just done a search on the http://www.lancaster-archive.com/ ............ and it does show up.
https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct= ... 4040,d.dGY
All you need to do is click on a given date and it will show activity for that date.

I've only just started searching but can't access the individual posts, as yet.
I'll keep trying.
John

Looks promising John, you'll be recruited by the Aussie MI5 before you know it! :)

Very sad to hear of Dennis's passing.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

I was shocked to read this afternoon of the passing of a very pleasant man; Dennis Over. We had many chats on the telephone, and I had suspected that something may have been amiss when calls failed to reach the number. Dennis will be happily "floating above the clouds, with nothing above but endless sky" as he once said.
RIP Dennis.
