Something you won't hear from a GPS in the UK

Post by R5868 »

On our trip through Central Australia, the GPS piped up with -" At the next roundabout take the third exit in 647 kilometres". Our trip lasted 6 weeks covering 5 states and doing 9500 Km. First time in a motorhome. Enjoyed it but don't know if we'd do it again. Main benefit was being able to visit wineries and not have to send the wine home by post. Storage was getting tight by the end of the trip.

Highlights:
QANTAS Museum at Longreach - early QANTAS aircraft, Flying Doctor aircraft and a Catalina.
Getting a copy of my uncle's logbook from my cousin.
One on one tour of the Temora Air Museum - ex-EFTS Station - all aircraft in flying condition
Walked into the Coonabarabran Tourist Information Centre (Central NSW) and picked up a book by Paul Davey - Warrumbungle Warrior in Bomber Command. The story of Noel Knight a navigator on 460 and 626 Squadrons.

Non aircraft related highlight:
Visit to the Naracoorte limestone caves in SA to see the masses of bones of the extinct Australian mega fauna.
