I can only assume that this aircraft was forced to make a crash landing here at Gransden Lodge ( not aware that this squadron was a Stirling base.

Looks like she's had a fair few of her parts harvested for spares, the mobile scaffold has been skillfully extended to account for the extra height of those engines.

Gransden Lodge is a short stone throw from Tempsford and Bourne so could have diverted there

These are gorgeous photos and Mildenhall is not far down the road (now USAF/RAF transport or whatever they call them now). I feel that it is improbable the photos were taken in June because even that area would almost certainly not have had snow then and the trees would have been on more bud etc.
