Re: 149 Squadron Photos & Details
Hubert Waugh,s service file states that he was with 161sqdn before 149, and 214sqdn before 161, so may be possible that the rest of the crew were as well. I have the 161sqdn ORB as well as the one for 149sqdn and will have a look through them for any op details.

Thank you Alan
Re: 149 Squadron Photos & Details
There seems to be some incorrect details in the ORB, as it gives Mackett and Deadman being posted in from 214sqdn on 25th and 21st Jan 44 but, according to the 161sqdn ORB, Mackett flew his last op with them on 15th Feb 44. Also, there is no sign of F/Sgt Newton in the crew at 149sqdn at any time. Mackett had 3 F/Eng's during the short time they were with the squadron, Sgt E. Mortelman, Sgt D. Hammond, and finally Sgt J. Suker.
Putting aside the mistake with the posting in details, ops for the crew were as follows
21/2, Gardening.
24/2, Gardening.
11/3, Gardening.
15/3, Amiens.
16/3, Amiens.
18/3, Gardening.
23/3, Laon.
25/3, Aulnoye.
26/3, Gardening.
31/3, Supply drop to Resistance.
Cannot explain why the mix up with postings, but this from 161sqdn clearly shows Mackett with 161sqdn (not 214) on his last op with them on 15th Feb

And this from Waughs file, seems to show 161sqdn before 149.

Re: 149 Squadron Photos & Details
According narrative written by Mackett himself
"In early October, 1943, after a number of bombing and mining sorties, I was posted on
detachment to 161 Sqn. at Tempsford to engage in supply dropping to the Maquis and other
underground groups operating in France and Belgium. These operations only took place in
the moon period."
.../...
"During the dark period when 161 Sqn. stood down, we went back to 214 Sqn. Chedburgh resuming conventional bombing and mining trips."
.../...
"In January, 1944, when 214 Squadron was assigned to 100 Group, I was transferred with my
crew to 149 Sqn. at Lakenheath. However, we continued special assignments with 161 Sqn. at
Tempsford. My 32nd and final operation was completed on March 31, 1944, and almost half
of these operations were on Special Duties with 161 Sqn."
