Can anyone identify these Lancs from 467/463 Squadrons?

I've checked the Waddington photo albums and, although they have photos of the aircraft, they don't identify them.

Sadly, I do not know much about the Australian squadrons but I'm have been learning of late, Kerry.
I'll do some digging and see what I can find.

Hopefully, other members will be able to assist. Sorry I do not have 460 Sqn ORB's, either.

What squadron was Doug Harvey in. I would'nt mind betting, that this might have been his personal a/c, and a search of an ORB might confirm this, and give you the serial number. John, you have 460sqdn, and all the other RAAF squadron ORB's at your fingertips :D unlike RAF squadrons in this country, where you have to pay for them :(
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Kerry, it's most probably ED994, PO-R of 467 squadron. F/O Harvey DFC was posted to 467 squadron on 1/8/43 and was tour expired on 17/2/44 before posting to No. 5 LFS. Or it could be LM440, PO-A, take your pick of what you think that part of the squadron code letter is!

My reason for asking about the Lanc with the Aussie Rising Sun badge on it is that I was given the photo by the son of my uncle's bomb aimer, Lloyd Baines RCAF. The crew didn't arrive at Waddington until August 44 on 463 Squadron and didn't move to 467 Squadron until November 44. At no time did they fly either of those aircraft. So why did Lloyd have the photo?

Possibly for the same reason that Rolly Ward had a photo of G-George of 460 squadron and her crew and ground crew in his wallet?! I don't know the answer to either.

If it was one of the other crew members, I would have said it was for patriotic reasons having the army hat badge on it!

Nice to meet you Kerry,

I live close to the place where the plane crashed (Halfways the Horstmar - Schöppingen-road, vicinity the late NATO -Nike Hercules SAM station).
I only have few info (beside those that are avaiable on the web) would like to learn more about what happened to your uncle, especialy with regard on his capture.
I have seen a police report that says he was captured in the morning hours of Match, 8th vicinity the village of Asbeck, today part of the comunity of Legden. Asbeck is situated approx 8km Sw Schöppingen, about 20km inside Germany off the dutch border ( 50km from the target).

Would be pleased to hearing from you!

Martin
