Ah, those long ago halcyon days of innocence when even a glimpse of a pair meant nothing to a naive young mind more intent on watching planes, trains and birds! Though come to think of it, I must have now reverted to my childhood!halifax1 wrote:Wasting his time if she is wearing regulation knickers! Years ago when Max was a boy.........

I must have now reverted to my childhood!
You and I both old chap, but most agreeable so far as I am concerned. I went to a toy aeroplane event at Shuttleworth on Sunday - all my peers lobbing free flight models about just as we did over 50 years ago. Bliss! I bought an old diesel engine made originally a few years after I was born. Got it running yesterday. Overall an acute attack of nostalgia!! But putting a name to some of the faces I had not seen for 30 years or so was not easy!

Going off topic a bit, but I do agree with the toy trains and planes sentiment. I well remember balsa gliders and clockwork trains. In fairness, some things never change, they just get modernised as shown in my son and his friends "toy plane" antics here! PS they both enjoy a cup of tea (link made, whew!)

That was one hell of a flight. The second, not the first. If you had stronger motors maybe it could have made its own way back to shore the first time.

Here are a couple to get us back on track ............... including a modern day NAAFI van and a poster from the 1930's.
Footnote - Did the RAF based vans sell / stock all what is listed in the poster or did they just stock tea & coffee???
