This is the logbook of my father and the photo's that I have of him and his crew.

I know that 242 was Transport and not Bomber but I thought that it would still be of interest.

That's some career your father had in the RAF Dave as reflected in his fascinating logbook. From my own point of view, I was interested to see the exercises which he carried out at No. 4 School of Signals when training as a w/op. Thanks for taking the time to scan and post it all.

A fascinating record, Dave - thanks for posting. Your father and crew look very comfortable together, and operated for a long time, presumably because of the Squadron's conversion to Lancasters.

What Dave has not said (because he is I am sure too modest) is that the Fennell crew were highly regarded and respected throughout the squadron and had a reputation of a “Gen crew”. They were one of the most experienced and senior crews on the squadron and what the Log Book does not record is their many close shaves. Their exploits in the mess was also a thing of legend!!

Thanks for all your comments it's much appreciated.

I do have some of his escape equipment such as maps on hankerchiefs / tiny compass's / a hacksaw blade inside some bakerlight and currency from a few of the countries that they operated over.

I also have his uniform buttons / badges / medals and a tiny knitted doll which I guess was a lucky charm.

If anybody has any information about my farther and his crew I would be very great full, Steve has already sent me a copy of a photo of his pilot and some crew and some information that I new nothing of, thanks for that Steve.

I have just come across a photo of him with all the Air Crew Cadets on his course 25-9-42 to 21-10 42 at No 4 S of S, if anybody is interested I can put that up here as well.
All the names are listed under the photo and strangely one of the names is J Pollard.

David, my fathers' name was Joe, as in J. W. Pollard ............. sounds interesting!
