F/O J C Thompson, Bomber Aimer, Logbook - 630 Sqn

Post by K4KittyCrew »

Hi Folks,

Ross Thompson, son of F/O J. C. Thompson, Bomb Aimer with 630 Squadron, ( my fathers' squadron ) has passed his fathers' logbook onto me. I've converted the files over to 'photobucket' and I'm very pleased to be able to post them here.

Hi John

a very interesting logbook. Is W/C Grindon the C.O. who became the C.O. of 617 after Johnny Fauquier ?

Hello Merlin,

To be completely honest, I have no idea at this point of time. I think I will have to pass the baton on this one and hope that one of our more knowledgeable members will come through.
I do have the book ..........'Bomber Squadrons at War' by Geoff D. Copeman. A timeline look at 57 & 630 sqn during ww2. Numerous photos and full of details, SO, I will have a look.

Hi John

Bruno has very kindly confirmed that W/Cdr J Grindon did take over 617 Sqn following Johnny Fauquier. His Obituary in the Telegraph is very interesting and I thank you for that.

With Kind Regards

Merlin
