Operational Identification Challenge 106

Post by K4KittyCrew »

OK, here is another RAF operation from WW2.
Who can name this city and the date of this operation?

Reference tools ................
Google Earth to search maps and RAF operation data can be sourced from The Bomber Command War Diaries: An Operational Reference Book, 1939-45 [Paperback]
Authors - Martin Middlebrook & Chris Everitt ............... may possibly be available from online sources / references.

CLUE - A large raid.

Good luck!
John

mm - Turin, but when? I'll go for the biggest Stirling effort - 112 Stirlings of 3 Group plus PFF (152 a/c in all) on 12/13 August 1943. F/Sgt Aaron of 218 Sqn won the VC - Middlebrook & Everitt calls it 'one of the bravest.'

Well, i'm going for 28/29th Nov 42, with 228 a/c involved, which beat 9/10 Dec 42 by one a/c (227)
There is no paralell in warfare, to such courage and determination in the face of danger, over so long a period. Such devotion, should never be forgotten.

Cheers,
John
