Thought I'd put this question out to all the members.
What is the longest recorded flight / operation, known for a Short Stirling?

No idea on this one John, but Stirlings did take part in ops against Italy so I wouldn't be surprised off some of these trips are at the upper end of the scale.

I'm with Richard. I'd go for Turin.

I suppose another factor will be how direct (or not) the route to and from the target was. A quick look at the 199 ORB shows flight times of about 9 hours for ops to Turin on 12-13/8/43 and 16-17/8/43.

Re: Longest Stirling Flight / Operation ?
An interesting question.
I see 11 Stirlings were part of an attack against Stettin on 20/21 April 43.
The BCWD mention it was more then 600 miles from the UK.
I'm guessing it was a little further away than Turin, depending on the route taken of course (happy to be corrected if wrong)
Of the 21 aircraft lost, one was a Stirling.
Wayne.
