Found this photo on another forum and wondered what you might think this 'tool' is used for.
I will name the forum and source when everyone has made their comment about it.
Cheers,
John
The aircraft is listed as an ME109

at a pinch I'd suggest that it's for harmonising the guns / gun camera

Looks like a Stuka, and definitely Luftwaffe personnel, so perhaps something to do with bomb aiming !

Must admit Alan that the glass roof looks a little too rounded for a ME109.
I'll see what else l can pull up.

It's a 109, so the contraption is set up inboard from the guns. Ergo, the sight can't be looking at anything useful unless it's the prop? Is it measuring rpm?

Here is the page / link I was talking about but I have no knowledge of what the correct answer is. I'll leave it up to the experts.

Interesting looking device, must have been a bit of a drag.

Looking at the web others would indicate that it is a Zeiss Ikon ESK 2000, (ESK 2000 just visible) and was a training gun camera. There are also photos of it on an Arado Ar 96.
