Hi All

My copy of this book arrived today. I haven't read any of the text yet but I can report that you won't be in the least bit disappointed in the photos in the book which contains large, clear and glossy printed images (apparently some 400?).

I've been searching out and surfing for Stirling images for about 4 years now and I haven't seen anything like half of the images in the book and I have seen many not in general circulation. In fact the author has included photos of my Aircraft of interest in the book (N6012) which he had kindly passed to me some while ago.

Just to give you some idea of the effort that has gone into research for the book I can say that some years ago when I went to talk to villagers where N6012 had crashed I was told that they had already talked to someone with an Italian name some years before, and he has passed some letters to me relating to the crews previous 'crash'.

If you are interested in the Stirling you need this book on your bookshelf, even if you just look at the pictures!

I'll reveiew the text once I've read it.

In case you didn't know already, Pino is the Chairman of the Stirling Aircraft Project and there's not a lot that he doesn't know about the aircraft. The book is a result of a lifetime's worth of painstaking research and you won't be disappointed with the result and that's without any hint of bias on my part. The only downside is that if you look closely there are 2 photos of me in the book LOL

I have to agree, a good book with lots of "new" photographs and a credit to Pino for his dedication.

However, I am sure Pino was not the individual who priced the book at £50, I cannot see many being sold at that price. The book is priced out of most peoples pocket range, I really cannot see the sense in this, poor on Fonthill Media to over-price the book and put off Stirling enthusiasts.

Keep your eye on ebay - already seen it for 33 squids. WaIt and it will fall. I didn't pay 50.
