Many thanks, John. Reality can be disheartening but it is always good to know where we stand on the matter.

Re: RUSSIAN SHORT STIRLING
That's not to say that we've written the prospect off entirely, but we wasted a lot of time (and money) on pinning our hopes on it turning up. It's still being progressed but very much as a secondary activity.

Re: RUSSIAN SHORT STIRLING
Hi Everybody,
I have today emailed the Prime Minister's Office Downing Street to see if the government can find out through official channels if the Russians really do have a Stirling.I have also said that this aircraft should be brought back to the UK,restored, and put in the RAF Museum,as it is unique as being the only one left of its kind.I have made military enquiries before and they do answer with excellent details.I will keep you all posted when I get a reply.

Not sure the current British Goverment has much interest in this subject and I am quite sure that if they could would get rid of the RAF all together. And as for the current RAF leaders they were bought out by the political partys years ago.Sad but that is the state of Britain now.

Another article by the same author on a similar topic was in Aeroplane a couple of years ago: linkK4KittyCrew wrote:Another link with comments of Stirlings in Russia.

The author (Vladimir kotelnikov) seems to specialise in US/UK aircraft flown by Russia during WW2
Re: RUSSIAN SHORT STIRLING
I searched Google and came across this clip. It shows a substantial section of a Short Stiring in the Netherlands. Any ideas?

Hi George and welcome.
The RAF Museum has substantial parts of LK488 in store (centre section and extreme rear fuselage), well mangled though

Re: RUSSIAN SHORT STIRLING
I was in discussion with a very old gentleman only this week regarding the Russian Stirling .He told me he has paperwork concerning at least one of the loan aircraft...it was scrapped after the war .....according to his paperwork.
