It's looking great, Guy. As Ed mentioned last year, your old photos aren't showing so if you get the chance to re-post them, it would be much appreciated. I joined this forum many years after your initial posts and have just caught up with them. My belated condolences on your losses, but it sounds like things have since improved so I'm happy to hear that.
Cheers,
Mark

I have every intention of staying in the mob and out-ranking him!K4KittyCrew wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:32 pm Great going there Guy. Once you have reached your fathers' rank, if you like, we may be able to lock that rank for you, if you wish. I know of one member on another forum who requested as such.
Those new engines look great! Can we swap?
Cheers,
John

I've spent a couple of hours hunting through backup drives and have found and uploaded most of them now.Mark Joyce wrote: ↑Wed May 20, 2020 5:14 am It's looking great, Guy. Thanks Guy, and some outstanding work on your part. I especially like the look of the undercarriage. It gave me fits when I built the Italeri Stirling a couple three years ago, especially since it had to be installed early in the building process.

Re: 299 Squadron Stirling Build - Arnhem
I've got the Italeri one yet to do. This was the only way to get a MkIV when I set out on the project all those years ago. It is a classic case of "I've started so I'm going to finish!" CV19 lockdown has given me the chance.Mark Joyce wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 12:52 am Thanks Guy, and some outstanding work on your part. I especially like the look of the undercarriage. Re: 299 Squadron Stirling Build - Arnhem
i have finally worked out what was in the nose of a MkIV! There was a seat for the Observer, set back into the fuselage with a slatted footrest on a new floor above the bomb aimer's position. there was also a small "desk" in front with signalling lights in front of that. The seat was probably dark green leather and the seat back was canvas. The interior of that compartment was matt black in order to prevent flare. I have tried to emulate this in 1:72 scale, but again, not as accurate as it could be. To my mind, something is better than nothing behind that Plexiglass nose!

Re: 299 Squadron Stirling Build - Arnhem
I have just revisited the nose internals due to the new information received. I have now moved the seat forward. The seat also all appears to be a pale canvas type, so I will re-paint it to suit. Clearly visible is the redundant front turret mounting ring. Also well shown are the eight plexiglass sections that formed the new nose.

That's a nice detail touch to the interior. It's a good thing you caught the corrections now, before the clear nose piece went on!

Re: 299 Squadron Stirling Build - Arnhem
A bit of fettling for fit to do before I touch everything up and complete the nose. I decided on green for the canvas seats in the end, it seemed more in keeping. Magnifying it like this really shows the rough edges! lol
